Another makeup obsession

Among my makeup/skincare/haircare obsessions, one in particular stands out. When I do facials on my clients I always finish up with this product and it not only makes them look amazing....but it makes me look good too. Not to mention it is an SPF 30, it is a physical block of the sun (think purple zinc oxide circa 1985) but it comes in several colors that make your skin look great...I carry mine in my purse and when I catch myself in the middle of the day looking tired and red and oily (it happens) I swirl some of this mineral powder around and I am good to go...CHECK IT OUT!

I just wanted to talk a little bit about something I believe to be essential for everyone, and that is the use of antioxidants in your skin care. Their main purpose is that they are free radical scavengers which help to limit or stop DNA mutations caused by UVA rays and pollution, thus slowing the aging process, reducing hyperpigmentation and *preventing skin cancer which is huge. I am assuming that everyone wears SPF daily, if not thats a seperate issue...if you're tanning then I am going to beat you up...but if you want to look good now and later you need SPF daily AND an antioxidant serum. The most kickass one I have found is by Skinceuticals and is called Phloretin CF http://www.skinceuticals.com/_us/_en/catalog/prevent/Phloretin-CF.htm. Even though it is expensive~$150~ I think everyone should use it every other morning before moisturizer, and you only need a few drops for your face, neck and decollete so it will last you months. Your skin will start to feel tighter, more toned and redness will be reduced...what's not to love?

False Eyelashes

Recently I did a wedding where the bride requested false lashes, it took a bit of perfecting on my part but I learned some valuable tricks that may help demistify the whole process.

Awesome photo of the bride Amanda by Eric of www.rawphotodesign.com

Now some other makeup artists may have their own way, this is what worked best for me after much trial and error....and glue-ing my friends eyes shut!

I found it easier to apply the lashes first, before applying any makeup, that way I didn't spend so much time on her makeup only for her eyes to tear and smudge everything. So, first I applied the glue (duo surgical adhesive is the best) to the back of my hand and took the lashes off of the package and stuck them around my pointer finger so they would hold their shape while I worked. Then I measured the lash strip and cut it so that it would fit inside of the length of her lashes, too long and they won't stay. Next I took the first set of lashes and ran the back through the glue to get a nice even strip of glue where they will attach. I held the lashes for like 30 seconds to let the glue get a little sticky and then was ready to place them.

This is the most important thing that I found- using tweezers- place the lashes on top of their lashes close to the lash line but not touching the lid (this ends in disaster) so almost resting on top. Using your tweezers and press the glue down onto their lashes, once again not getting any on the skin. Have them keep their eyes closed for at least a minute until the glue dries.

Before continuing to the next eye, have them open their eyes (they will most likely have a hard time of this) so VERY CAREFULLY take your tweezers and help them open their eyes by breaking the glue that has also bonded to the bottom lashes. You can also help to seperate the glue by gently pulling their eyes open to break the glue strands as well...then proceed to the next eye. Once they are on let them adjust to the feeling and then continue with their makeup from their...voile~gorgeous long lashes

Welcome

I am welcoming myself to the world of blogging. I look forward to finding fabulous products and things to share with you all~ as well as my experience from being a makeup artist and esthetician. There is a lot of bad, confusing information in the skincare field especially, so I hope to clear the air and make skin care choices easier for many people. Welcome and thanks for checking me out
